Spartans Lose Handle on 8 Run Lead, Fall to Reynolds 9-8
Things seem to looking bright for the Spartans against their cross town rival on a beautiful spring night when MT racked up eight runs in the first two innings on two hits by Bradley Morton, a two RBI single by Patrick Ronan and hits by Cole Penn, Josh Parmesano and Jamie Nunn. Sophomore Thomas St. Clair, who was coming off of a great outing against North Davidson, was holding his own on the mound and the Tabor D held RJR scoreless in the first inning. Then, things started to fall apart for the Spartans...again. The Spartans committed 4 errors in the bottom of the second and also let up some hits allowing the Demons to tally up 3 runs to break the shut out. Tabor's offense failed to capitalize with runners in the top of the third and fourth ending both innings scoreless. RJR then found 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth including a 2 run ground-rule double to deep left. With the score 8-6 going into the top of the 5th, the Spartans continued to fail to score since the first two innings. Reynolds continued to tear the cover off the ball as they scored runs off of a hit to right. Reynolds got one more that inning between another hit and Spartan error to take the lead 9-8, which would be the final. The Spartans were once again plagued by an error fueled (8 Spartan Errors) lead-depleting break down. The Spartans look to bounce back tomorrow versus East at home at 7.
