The 2011 Mount Tabor Varsity Baseball team started their season tonight, with the first pitch set for 7:00 at Glenn High School. With nine seniors on the squad, the Spartans look to be ready to contend in a very competitive CPC 4A conference. The Spartans started off strong by taking the lead in the third inning with an RBI single from Cole Penn and a 2 RBI Double from Jamie Nunn. The Spartans tacked on two more in the 5th but immediately after the Bobcats put up 6 runs off of 3 hits in the bottom of the inning taking the lead 6-5. Nunn struck out seven in his 5 inning outing before giving up the mound to Senior, Montana Dawson. Mount Tabor's Doyle singled and moved around the bases on passed balls, eventually scoring on a wild pitch to tie the score 6-6. Dawson struck out two in the bottom of the 6th to hold the Bobcats scoreless. Tied game going into the last inning, the Spartans manage to get one on via Patrick Ronan getting hit by a pitch but leave him stranded. Bobcats scrap together one run in the bottom of the 7th to win it. Spartans will play again tomorrow at East Rowan.
