LIVE UPDATE TEXT MESSAGE FAQ |
These are FAQ's about the Twitter text message service, if you want help with Twitter in general, click HERE |
Will this cost money? |
Only the amount of a standard text message according to your wireless plan. If you have unlimited text messaging, it comes in just as a normal text message. If you have a certain amount a month, this will use up one text message. |
How does it work? |
Via Twitter, every time the account holder "tweets" live from a Spartan Baseball game, that tweet is then sent as a text message to whomever subscribed to follow MTHSBaseball via texting "follow MTHSBaseball" to 40404 |
Do I need a fancy phone? |
NO! Any phone with text messaging will do. If you do have a Blackberry, iPhone, or any other smart phone however, you can download a Twitter application and follow MTHSBaseball through that. If you do have a blackberry, check out this PDF tutorial to help: BLACKBERRY TWITTER TUTORIAL. If you have an iPhone, check out this link: iPhone Twitter Help |
What are the advantages? |
It's very difficult to make every home and away game. If you aren't there but would still like to know a live score, this is the answer! The Twitter account holder (Mr. Ronan) will be at the game, and will "tweet" every inning or so often with a score/news update which you will receive in real time! Also, on rainy/stormy days nothing is more frustrating than not knowing if the game is cancelled/delayed. As soon as the Twitter Account holder knows the status of the game, a "tweet" will be made (i.e. "Game today x.x.2011, cancelled and rescheduled for Friday"). Anyone who follows will recieve this as a text message in real time! |
Here is an example of what the Tweets look like coming in as text messages. As you can see the user (green) texted the message "Follow MTHSBaseball" to the number 40404. There is a welcome message and then the most recent tweet is texted to your phone and they will continue to come as they are sent!
